Wave-transparent porous Si3N4 ceramics were fabricated using Yb2O3 as sintering additive.The influence of Yb2O3 content and sintering temperature on the porosity,mechanical,dielectric properties and microstructure of porous Si3N4 ceramics was investigated.The results showed that the porous Si3N4 ceramics with porosity ranging from 8%to 47%were prepared.Mechanical property was remarkably improved increasing the sintering temperature due to the formation of more sintering liquid-phase.For the porous Si3N4 ceramics sintered at 1690 ℃,flexural strength,fracture toughness and the relative permittivity increased firstly and then decreased as the Yb2O3 content increased from 3 to 12wt%.
