Content: Myxococcus xanthus utilizes two distinct motility systems for movement on solid surfaces: Adventurous motility (A-motility) for individual cell movement and Social motility (SMotility) for coordinated group movements.Both systems have two genetically, functionally and structurally different motility engines with two distinct and different evolutionary histories.
