Plasmonic nanostructures have been attracting extensive and intensive attention by virtue of their ability to support localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR),which find a wealth of applications in surface-enhanced spectroscopy, light-assisted catalysis and optical sensors.Here we demonstrate that plasmonic nanostructures are also ideally suited for an unconventional yet important niche application, that is, as time-temperature indicators (TTIs) to track, mimic, indicate the real-time quality of perishable oroducts.
