The nuclear fuel for the IVth generation of reactors(Fast-Neutron Reactor)will contain minor actinides which are expected to release high amount of helium in the pellets.The solution we suggest to prevent swellings of pellets is to manufacture a fuel with a mostly interconnected open porosity.Compared with current manufacturing processes of porous ceramics,nuclear fuels impose additional constraints.Fuels containing minor actinides which have high activity and long life must be manufactured in shielding cells.
