Krakatau which now consist of four islands has been studied intensively especially to learn the colonization of the plants after the great eruption.Orchid is one of the earliest vegetation occupied the island and in four island the number of the orchid species is increased.With the wind dispersal characters orchid seed easily spread especially in Rakata island.As the seeds able to float far away the origin of the seeds is often from a long distance.Observation on orchid up to 2008,32 terrestrial and 41 epiphytic orchid species found in Krakatau islands including 2 Jawa endemic species: Dendrobium tenellum and Eria verruculosa.
