The formation of continents in our planet through time is important not only for tracing the evolution of Earth, but also in understanding how our planet became habitable, and the episodic formation of important mineral resources.During the 4.6 billion years of Earth history, the early phase is shrouded in mystery with only traces of evidence preserved relating to the oldest continental crust.Granitic crust is the main source of nutrient supply that evolved and sustains life, and therefore the timings and relationships between crustal evolution and life evolution is critical.
