The biopharmaceutical industry has,by all measures,been a tremendous success,in terms of both human health and economics.The application of vaccines has practically eliminated once dreaded infectious diseases such as smallpox and polio while newly introduced vaccines offer the opportunity to greatly reduce the suffering caused by acute gastroenteritis in infants and shingles in adults and to reduce the threat of cervical cancer in women.
