The European Pharmacopoeia Commission has initiated a work programme dedicated to herbal drugs used in Traditional Chinese Medicines in order to take account of the importance and the growing interest for such medicines by European patients.The work programme is based on the priorities derived from information on frequency of use and on potential health risks which may arise from insufficient identification or adulteration of the herbal drugs concerned.
