In order to construct an information platform for ITS, we analysis the ITS'features and essentials from the view of computer science in this paper. We abstract two important research points of ITS information platfoim. One is context aware computing. The other is asynchronous and distributed system management and coordination. Context information describes the entities in ITS environment. Context aware computing provides information and knowledge for each entity to make decision to achieve intelligent transporting in the whole ITS. In order to achieve the whole ITS' harmonization, asynchronous and distributed system management and coordination are used to manage the interaction between entities. As the analysis shows, the abstraction of ITS information platform meets ITS' characteristics. At the same time the abstraction is easy to research ITS in the opinion of computer science, because this kind of abstraction reflects the objectivity of ITS and suitable for computing concept.
