We report a computer aided surgery for sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification using fluorescence imaging after indocyanine green injection.Furthermore, to facilitate safe and accurate identification of SLN during surgery, we introduce the technique of image overlay navigation surgery and evaluate its efficacy.Initially we obtained three dimensional (3-D) images from MD-CT by volume rendering with Osirix.The image was projected onto the patients operative field, allowing clear visualization of LN through the micro projector.Indocyanine green was then injected subdermally via the areola.Subcutaneous lymphatic channels draining from the areola to the axilla were immediately rendered visible by fluorescence imaging, and lymphatic flow reaching the LN was revealing on 3-D imaging.
