Objective: To introduce a method of two- stage procedure protocol with the MIPO tech nique applied in the treatment of complex Pilon fractures and evaluate the surgical wound healing and the rate of infection after this method was applied in the clinical practice.Method: This is a retrospective study design.The protocol consisted of immediate (within 8 -24 hours) open reduction and internal fixation of the fibula,using a fibula plate or one-third tubular plate and application of an external fixator spanning the ankle joint.Patients were dis charged after initial stabilization and revaluated around 10 to 14 days after discharge.
