A phosphine-mediated intramolecular conjugating of alkyl halides with electron-deficient C-C double bonds has been successfully developed.The reaction condition is mild and no conversion of the alkyl halide to organometallic reagent is required.This direct connection of two electrophilic moieties provides a new and facile synthetic route for the preparation of chroman derivatives, and can also be extended to the construction of other relevant analogues such as tetrahydroquinolines, thiochromans, and tetralines.
