c-myc (myelocytomatosis oncogene), a well-known proto-oncogene, has been proved to play an important role in a variety of cell processes, including cell-cycle progression, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, survival, adhesion, and cell-size determination.Loss of c-myc function has been shown to cause hematological malignancies. In human patients with tumor, c-myc is found to be down regulated in many malignant tissues.
