In recent publication [1]we have reported that α-methylstyrene is polymerization and nitration with nitric acid by one-pot method,polymer with high degree of nitration was obtained.But the steric structure of product was not discussed,Cationic polymerization of α-methylstyrene yields a mostly syndiotactic polymer,which,however,does not crystallize even when the syndiotactic content is highter than 90 %[2].
