The multi-scale structures and final mechanical, optical and electrical properties of polymer films are determined by the complex external fields, such as flow and temperature, etc.Because of the complexity of external fields during processing, the relative microscopic mechanisms and kinetics corresponding to the internal micro structures of polymers is still frequently under debate, which give much trouble on the improvement of the mechanical properties of the polymer films. Therefore, a series of streching and flowing machines with temperature controller in situ were developed, such as Biaxial Stretching Machine as shown in figure 1.Combined with ultra-Small and Wide Angle X-ray Scattering techniques, the multi microstructural evolution in PP/PE films induced by tensile deformation can be followed in-situ, which can help to establish the relationships of crystal transformation and mechanical properties, as well as give evidences for designing and producing the polymer films with specially mechanical properties.
