Anatase TiO2 plays an important role in the application of gas sensors.Usually, anatase TiO2 is mainly composed by thermodynamically stable {101 } crystal plane with a low proportion of highly active {001 }.[1] However, TiO2 in the form of nanoparticles or nanopowders is difficult for recycling.Besides, single TiO2 nanostructures are easily to aggregate, resulting in low surface areas and further low properties.For enhanced properties, an ideal strategy is to grow TiO2 nanostructures on suitable substrates.[2] Herein, we succeeded in the preparation of anatase TiO2 exposed {001} facets on the SiC ultrafine fibers with electrostatic spinning and hydrothermal method, which can solve these two problems (recycle and aggregation).TiO2 with dominant {001 } facets shows a significantly high gas sensing properties for acetone,with its sensitivity rate being 9 times higher than that of commercial P25 in 400 ℃ ,and TiO2/SiC ultrafine fibers have higher gas sensing properties than pure TiO2 nanosheets.Combined with the results,it is suggested that SiC ultrrafine can block TiO2 aggregation and increase specific surface area,which are the reasons for enhancing gas sensing properties.It is expected that TiO2/SiC ultrafine fibers sensors are promising to be used for detecting high-temperature gas sensors in aerospace field.[3]
