A waterproofing design guideline is proposed for interior leakage prevention of below-grade residential apartments to provide a comfortable and safe living environment for the residents.This study shows that construction designs with inside waterproofing does not successfully prevent the penetration of water into the building interior,leading to degradation of the building durability.By comparing the survey and the actual situation at hand,the results showed that the lowest floor slab,wall construction joints,and floor expansion joints were the most prone to leakage.A complete exterior surface coverage that includes the entire residential underground structure is proposed as a waterproofing design method.Further research is required for the establishment of this detailed design and construction guideline in regards to this study.
