A transient 3-D CFD model is developed to simulate the TiC particle behaviour in the blast furnace hearth during titania addition via tuyere injection for a single tapping cycle.Analyses are conducted with respect to the distribution of TiC mass fraction along the inner hearth surface. The effects of key operational parameters are investigated. The following recommendations are made.To protect the side walls, titania injecting tuyere located upstream from the hot spot location,by an offset angle as proposed, should be selected. To protect the hearth bottom corner, titania injecting tuyere should be selected such that the hot spot location is between the active taphole and tuyere are around 60° apart.
