  Copolymer,poly(methyl methacrylate-vinyl acetate)(P(MMA-VAc)),was synthesized by solution polymerization with methyl methacrylate(MMA) and vinyl acetate (VAc) as monomers.Polyethylene(PE) non-woven supported gel polymer electrolyte(GPE) separators were prepared with this copolymer and their performances were characterized with electrochemical methods.The physical properties of the separator,such as morphology,pore size and its distribution,porosity and mechanical strength,are measured.The PE non-woven supported copolymer shows a cross-linked porous structure.The ionic conductivity of the separator is 3.8x10-3 S*cm-1 at room temperature.The capacity at the C/2 rate is maintained at about 88% of the initial value on the 300th cycle at the room temperature.The GPE is compatible with anode and cathode of lithium ion battery at high voltage and its electrochemical window is 4.8V (vs.Li/Li+).
