Biopolymers such as gelatine, and some synthetic polymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(vinyl alcohol) PVA, are biodegradable, recyclable, compostable materials.Gelatine is a natural biopolymer obtained from native collagens, which are the most widespread proteins in most connective tissues.It is attractive for biomedical applications because of its biological origin, non-immunogenicity, biodegradability and biocompatibility.Nano-fibrous mats were prepared from gelatin using electrospinning, which is recognized as an efficient processing method for manufacturing nano-scale fibrous structures for many applications, such as wound dressings, drug delivery, and tissue engineering scaffolds.
