Objective To evaluate the imaging quality of Coronary MRA (CMRA) from targeted volume vs whole heart acquisitions in visualizing coronary arteries with qualitative analysis. Methods: Twenty volunteers were examined with CMRA at 3T by using targeted volume vs whole heart acquisitions.Reformatting and quantitative coronary of CMRA was performed in 20 volunteers by using “ Soap-Bubble ” Visualization. The imaging quality score was assessed according visualizing and the average vessel length、diameter and sharpness of coronary arteries can be measured. Results Using targeted volume acquisition, the average vessel length of RCA,LM+LAD and LCX was 112±31mm、98±14mm、51±11mm,the average vessel diameter was 3.0 ±0.4mm、2.9±0.3mm、3.0±0.3mm and the sharpness was 48±11%、44±13%、43±15%.Using whole heart acquisition, the average vessel length of RCA,LM+LAD and LCX was 106±24mm、94±15mm、47±14mm,the average vessel diameter was 3.2±0.3mm、3.0 ±0.3mm、3.1±0.2mm and the sharpness was 37±14%、36±9%、34±13%.There is a significantly difference in sharpness and imaging quality score between targeted volume and whole heart acquisition(P<0.05),but no obviously difference in length and diameter(P>0.05).Conclusion The targeted volume acquisition scan provided sharper images and better overall image quality score than whole heart acquisition.CMRA from targeted volume acquisition is recommended.
