The electrochemical behavior of magnesium electrodes were studied in a variety of nonaqueous electrolyte solutions, using polarization and impedance spectroscopy. The solutions consisted of Mg,Li,Na,Al and rare earth salt solutions in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF),propylene carbonate (PC) and tetrahydrofuran (THF).It was demonstrated that Mg in the electrolyte with Al3+ ions obtained the improved surface film.Mg dissolution and deposition in the solutions were analyzed and simulated a reaction model in which the complicated adsorption-desorption processes took place and Al3+ ions competed with the formation of oxidize adsorbates to slow down the passivation process.
