Based on the great differences of standard electrode potential between zinc and copper or cadmium, low current density electrolysis was employed to explore the feasibility that copper and cadmium ions were selectively separated from zinc sulphate aqueous solution or zinc ammonia/ammonium sulphate aqueous solution by using Pb-Ag alloy as anode and aluminium cathode in the present study.It was shown that zinc metal would not deposit on the cathode after an electrolysis time of 8.5 h.
