To ensure the security of structure and decrease the space pollution, explosive bolt catchers are widely applied in separation mechanism and stage separation of launch vehicles;however, design of the catchers is conventionally base on experiments.For the design and optimization of new generation launch vehicle, quantitative analysis on the parameters of the bolt catcher is carried out in this paper.The research is based on impact response thru explicit integrity method, and the influence of the design parameters are studied respectively.Finally, optimization strategy for bolt catchers are discussed, which is aimed to adapt to the design and optimization for new launch vehicles.
