Mercury level has been found relatively high in the aquatic environments of Florida since 1970s.The source of the mercury has been traced to be the dry and wet deposition of atmospheric origin.We investigated the distribution of mercury and the sulfides in the sediments of the Apalachicola River and the Apalachicola Bay in the Gulf of Mexico, a shallow river-dominated estuary of Northern Florida, USA.
