The main pathological characteristics of Alzheimers disease (AD) is the high density of senile plaques (SPs) in the brain which constitute of amyloid β-peptide (Aβ).However, the possible mechanisms by which Aβ impairs neurons are still uncertain and there is still no effective method in the prevention and treatment of AD.Hippocampal Long term potentiation (LTP) is a persistent enhancement of excitatory synaptic transmission induced by preceding operations of high-frequency stimulation (HFS) and has long been thought to be a suitable model for not only the study of synaptic plasticity but also the elucidation of mechanisms underlying cognitive and memory disorders, such as AD.
