Background RGD containing peptides are potent antagonists of the alphalIbbeta3, αvβ3, αvβ5 and α5β1 integrin receptors, which play important roles in human platelet aggregation, cancer cell migration and tumor-induced angiogenesis. The C-terminal and N-terminal residues adjacent to the RGD sequence are required for its interaction with receptor. Here, we investigated the roles of four different C-terminal residues of RGD containing peptides in platelet aggregation and thrombosis.
