OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of escitalopram on treatment of severe Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) subjects in China METHODS This was an 8-week,single arm,open-label,multicenter,prospective,post marketing study.Male and female adults (n =225) (aged 18-65 years,inclusive) with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fourth Edition,text-revision (DSM-Ⅳ-TR)criteria-defined major depressive disorder with a minimum total score of 30 on Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating scale (MADRS) received treatment with escitalopram 10 to 20 mg/day.The primary efficacy parameter was the remission rate (defined as MADRS ≤10) at Week 8 using the last observation carried forward approach.
