  Background: Titanium(Ti)implants are widely used in clinic for their comfortable and convenient both in use and feelings.But the post-operation infection hinders the Ti implants usefulness.In order to prevent the bacterial infection after implant placement,a long-term antibacterial ability on the surface of Ti implants are desired..Due to the discrepancy in pH value between the inflammation tissues and normal tissues,we can fabricate a new system which is sensitive to pH to achieve the purpose.Aim: the titanium nanotubes arrays(TNT)which incorporate with “pH-sensitive silver(Ag)nanoparticles” are fabricated on the surface of Ti implants Method: In this new system,the acid-labile acetal linkers are grafted to the wall of the titanium nanotubes tightly with Ag nanoparticles at the end of the linkers.Surface morphology of the titanium nanoutubes arrays with “pH-sensitive silver(Ag)nanoparticles” were observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).The presence of functional groups for the obtained samples was performed by FT-IR absorption spectroscopy and XRD.The Ag+ concentration released from TNT at different pH value were observed by ICP-AES.Results and conclusion: The SEM micrograph and TEM micrograph of the obtained samples indicated that the silver(Ag)nanoparticles were loaded on the TNT successfully.The FT-IR and XRD results verified the acid-labile acetal linkers are grafted to the wall of the titanium nanotubes with Ag nanoparticles at the end of the linkers.The Ag+ concentration released from TNT at different pH value indicated that the new system was sensitive to the change of pH.
