Diethyl carbonate (DEC) is an important intermediate and solvent in synthesis of a variety of organic compound[1].Because of its high oxygen content (40.6 wt%) and favorable gasoline/water distribution coefficients than that of DMC, DEC has been proposed as a replacement for tert-butyl ether (MTBE) asun attractive oxygen-containing fuel additives.In the last decades, an environment-friendly route for DEC syntheses via urea or ethyl carbamate (EC) alcoholysis has attracted extensive attentions (scheme 1), lower DEC yield, however, has generally been obtained.
