Objective: Explore the impact of earthquake on adolescents suicidal ideation and suicide attempt.Methods: samples of the survey are 11 to 18 years of age students from 2 junior high council schools and 2 senior high council schools from the most severely affected areas in the earthquake and 2 junior high council schools and 2 senior high council schools from not affected areas in the earthquake.We analysed the subjects mental health conditions, by using General questionnaire that is composed of The Childrens Revised Impact of Event Scale (CRIES-13) , Beck Depression Scale (BDI), and Youth Risk Behaviour Surveillance System (YRBSS).Results: 1.Incidence of the suicide idea and suicide in adolescent among Serious distress area (X2=6.046,P=0.014), the CRIES-13 scores (X2=14.15, P=0.007), smokers (X2=34.42, P=0.024), Drinkers (X2=74.487,P=0.000), unhealthy dieters (X2 =4.17, P=0.021), unprotected sexual act (X2=7.14, P=0.003) is high than no Serious distress area; 2.Risk factors associated with Suicide idea: female (OR=1.386, 95%Cl=1.258~3.732), 11~14years (OR=1.886,95%Cl=0.784~2.002), whether or not injury (OR=1.342, 95%Cl=0.917~3.966), whether or not witnessed Death (OR=2.014, 95%Cl=0.865~2.188), Despair (OR=2.067, 95%Cl=0.967~2.705), CRIES-13 total scores (OR=1.443, 95%Cl=1.221~3.305); 3.Risk factors associated with suicide attempt : female (OR=2.172, 95%Cl=1.192~4.011), 11~14years (OR=1.675, 95%Cl=1.023~2.872), whether or not injury (OR=1.794, 95%Cl=1.220~3.255), whether or not witnessed Death (OR=2.014, 95%Cl=0.865~1.934), Despair (OR=1.515,95%Cl=1.126~3.039), CRIES-13 total scores (OR=1.241,95%Cl=0.916~2.683).Conclusion: Incidence of the suicidal ideation and suicide attempt in earthquake-stricken areas is high than no earthquake-stricken areas; female, 11 ~14years, whether or not witnessed death, whether or not injured, despair, and PTSD are the risk factors for suicidal ideation and suicide attempt among the adolescents from the earthquake-stricken areas.
