Rational assessment of the impacts of geologic hazards on World Heritage sites forms the basis for their sustainable development. This paper selects 4 first-level indicators: harmfulness of historical hazards, geological environmental conditions, vulnerability of heritage sites and hazard reduction capabilities of heritage sites and 18 second-level indicators: density of geological hazard points, scale of geological hazards, frequency of geological hazards, distribution density of fault, complexity of geomorphic type, stability of rock-soil body, average of annual precipitation, annual precipitation variation coefficient, percentage of forest coverage, human activities, area of ancient building complex/man-made projects, architectural structure system, number of cultural relics, species richness, stability of ecosystem, hazard prevention projects, hazard relief capacities and reconstruction capabilities to build an assessment indicator system. The evaluation process is discussed with the application of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model.Jiuzhaigou is selected as a research area to validate the indicator system and the model. The research shows that it can intuitively reflect the impacts of geological hazards on sustainable development of World Heritage sites. And the method is operational and universal to some extent.
