Critical public eye care needs are not being met, leading to avoidable blindness and visual loss.Institutions such as the ICO and developed societies must make a greater effort.All ophthalmologic societies must do more to raise awareness about this need.Hopefully we can create high impact, visible national programs of eye care worldwide in systematic approach led by indigenous ophthalmologists whenever possible.This is our challenge and ophthalmology must respond.
