　　Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) fabricated by electron-beam physical-vapor deposition (EB-PVD) were irradiated by high-intensity pulsed ion beam (HIPIB) at the ion current density of 100 A/cm2 with the shot number of 1-10.Microstructural features of the irradiated EB-PVD TBCs were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM),respectively.The non-irradiated EB-PVD TBCs shows a typical columnar structure,and the parallel columns with several to ten μm in diameter exhibit feather-like features with sharp tips.TEM observation reveals that there are many nanometer-scale gaps inside each single column.All the HIPIB-irradiated surfaces present smooth and densified features due to the melting and ablating of EB-PVD TBC.For the irradiated EB-PVD TBC with 1 shot,the intercolumnar channels were partially sealed on the local region.
