Cancer is a genetic disease and a result of gene-environment interactions. To rapidly translate findings obtained from extensive genetic and molecular studies into clinical applications and eventually establish new standard cares for patients with cancer, translational research has been promoted by government agencies and public at large in the past two decades.Although challenging at the beginning, a system to support translational cancer research has been established in the United States and as the major hub to attract investigators with different expertise ranging from basic sciences to clinical sciences.
