With increasing demands for steel as construction material,vacuum steel degassing as part of secondary metallurgy has become a crucial process in modern steel production.This article describes major steel degassing processes and the vacuum pump systems utilized for these applications.Additionally,the differences between steam ejector pumps and mechanical vacuum pumps are identified and applications for tertiary metallurgy and smaller-scale,specific processes are briefly mentioned.
