Six flavonoid glycosides (1-3,6-8),one lignan (4) and one galloyl glycoside (5) were isolated from Polygonum aviculare L.The structures of those compounds were identified by comparing their physicochemical and spectral data with those of published in literatures.All the compounds were evaluated for DNA topoisomerase inhibitory activities and cytotoxicities.Among the purified compounds,5 showed more potent inhibitory acitivities (IC50∶12 μM) than camptothecin,as the positive control (IC50∶17 μM) against topoisomerase Ⅰ.Compouds 1,3,5,6,7 and 8 showed more strong inhibitory activities toward DNA topoisomerase Ⅱ with IC50 values of 0.58,12,17,0.008,0.55 and 0.013 μM than positive control (VP-16 28 μM),respectively.All the compounds were not showed cytotoxity of lung carcinoma (A549),ovary adenocarcinoma (SK-OV-3),liver hepatoblastoma (HepG-2) and colon adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cell lines.
