Considering the subjectivity of manually controlled reagent addition for the flotation process,which could easily lead to mining fluctuations resulting in waste of chemical regents and resources,an automatic control of flotation reagent addition is proposed.Since the bubble size distribution is the most important froth characteristic,it can be used as the indicator of reagent dosage.Combined with the characteristics of bubble size distribution,a kernel function estimation method is used to describe the shape of probability density function(PDF)of bubble size distribution,a model between the output PDF and reagent dosage is constructed.Using the minimum deviation between the output PDF and the target PDF as the control index,adopting the Powell optimization method to minimize the performance function,its corresponding reagent dosage is used as adjustment amount to control.Finally,comparisons of the dosage consumption and mineral recovery rate are made between the manual control and the proposed method by using the industrial data,the results show that the proposed method is more effective.
