The effect of cooling rate on the modification and refinement of 4032 aluminum alloy has been investigated at the cooling rates of 0.7~4.5 K/s, which is the range of mainstream industrial process.Sr and Sb were used to modify eutectic silicon and B was used to refine primary aluminum.Modification level of eutectic silicon and refining results of α-Al were characterized quantitatively by Lp based on the perimeter of silicon particles and the maximum grain length D, respectively.

The casting table with lubricating oil and wipe was used in this study, 30T 7055 superhigh strength aluminium alloy with diameter of 582 mm were cast successfully, and the effects of parameters on mel
A horizontal-type twin roll casting method has been popular for producing aluminum alloy strips, however, it is characterized by a relatively low productivity (1~6 m/min).In contrast, a vertical-type
Al-11.5 wt.%Si alloy was modified by Sr and then solidified in different moulds. The results showed that whether or not adding Sr modification agent the electrical conductivities of alloys solidified i
In this work, a series of Al-Al4C3, Mg-Al4C3 and Al-Mg-Al4C3 master alloys were developed for refining α-Mg grains and their nucleating mechanism were also investigated. The master alloys exhibit a rem
The microstructure of Al-F.e binary ahoy processed by metal mould casting was investigated. The effects produced by Fe contents and the pouring temperature on the solidification structures of Al-Fe bin
During casting the semi-solid microstructure is frequently subjected to the tensile stresses, which are closely related to cast defects such as hot tearing, porosity and macrosegregation. To examine th
A low frequency electromagnetic field was introduced into the direct chill (DC) casting process and the ingots of Al-Cu alloy were prepared to study the macrosegregation behaviour of the ingots under
Developments of high-strength aluminum alloys have always faced a difficult problem: owing to their small size, the early-stage strengthening precipitates are difficult to characterize in terms of com
For decades, twin-roll casting has been applied for manufacturing aluminium alloy sheets. This conventional process contributes to make thin aluminium sheets from the molten metal directly.Recently, ve
Based on the green and saving concept, a complex process preparing semisolid alloy slurry was developed, which was composed of the low superheat pouring and low frequency electromagnetic stirring. The
