When used appropriately building performance simulation has the potential to reduce the environmental impact of the built environment, to improve the indoor environmental quality and productivity, and to facilitate future innovation and technological progress in the construction industry.This paper provides an overview of the current state directions of building performance simulation for the complete building life-cycle from conception to demolition.Theory, development, quality assurance and use in practice will be addressed.The paper will finish with indicating future directions.
