Thirty-five simple sequence repeat (SSR) molecular markers based on the whole genome sequence of Lentinula edodes were shown to differentiate 25 cultivated strains of the mushroom certified by the Chinese state.Polymorphic loci, represented by 174 distinct bands, were detected using 35 primer pairs, and the number of fragments amplified by each of these primer pairs ranged from 2 to 12.SSR fingerprints,constructed using seven primer pairs (selected on the basis of band separation and reproducibility), differentiated four L.edodes strains (Cr02,L135, Minfeng-1 and L808).
