Blood sugar lowering effect is one of the major functions of insulin, and insulin sensitivity is most often referred to its ability to regulate glucose homeostasis.Upon binding to its receptor, insulin shifts phosphoproteome to stimulate translocation of glucose transporter GLUT4 onto cell surface in skeletal muscle and fat for assimilation of glucose from the bloodstream.
