The increase of soil organic carbon (SOC) in croplands has been considered as one of the win-win strategies to achieve food security and mitigate global climate change.The research on SOC is mostly on plow layer of top 20- or 30-cm soil depth,which is believed to underestimate the total soil carbon sequestration capacity without accounting for soil depth deeper than 30-cm.
