There has been healthy debate within Australia and internationally about the impact of media coverage about suicide on individuals and communities.There has also been recent interest and debate about the role of the media in stimulating community discussion about suicide and suicide prevention.A National Inquiry into Suicide in Australia during 2010 raised a number of issues around public discussion of suicide and the possible benefits of personal stories about suicide, especially where those stories tell the impact of suicide on those bereaved.
