Weightlessness or simulated weightlessness would induce structural adaptation of arteries,but the effect of it on the carotid artery and the underlying mechanisms are still to be elucidated.In the present study,we aimed to investigate the changes of common carotid artery intima-media thickness(CIMT)after simulated weightlessness and role of acid sphingomyelinase/ceramide(ASM/Cer)pathway in the regimen.4-wk hindlimb unloaded tail suspended(HU)rats were used to simulate the effect of weightlessness.
