In case of Korea, researches on indoor air quality condition of housing and public facilities were fully started by the government, research institute and university around the year 2000 when the interest in indoor air quality increased. However, one of the main topics of this research, indoor air quality condition of elementary schools where physically immature children dwell, had not been considered with the same importance until 2002 when [School Health Regulation] was amended to include HCHO and VOCs.This study is intended to build basic data for further risk assessment in future through the survey of actual status on SVOC(PBDEs, DEHP, BBP, DBP, DEP, BBP) that may take place in the facilities where childrens activity is frequent such as elementary school, private academy, housing, public facilities & transportation As the result demonstrates, excepts few high concentrations places such as elementary schools, which have highest concentration, most points have relatively lower density than general housings in Korea.Due to the characteristic of PBDEs, the concentration of summer is generally higher than that of winter and Namyangju in rural area demonstrates the lowest concentration among all.The average value of Phthalate is DEHP (206.16 μg/g dust)> BBzP (86.76 μg/g dust)> DnBP (75.46 μg/g dust) and DEP is not observed. The average phthalate concentration in elementary schools is relatively higher among other target facilities and the average phthalate concentration of public facilities is the lowest.Among 153 classroom of elementary schools, 94.1% are found with DEHP, 90.8% are found with DnBP, 51.6% are found with BBzP.DEHP concentration is the highest.
