An accurate and precise method was developed for measurement of siliconisotope compositionin PM2.5by multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(MC-ICP-MS)in high resolution mode.ThePM2.5 samples were dried under 1000Kfollowed by alkaline fusionwithsodium hydroxideto transformsilicon intosilicate anion. Then, cationexchangechromatographywas adopted to removeother interference ions, such as iron ion, aluminium ion and sodion.Astandard-sample bracketing method was applied to correct the mass discriminationin MC-ICP-MS measurements. The precision of this method could reach0.1‰and was close to the precision of the standard material measurement. This methodhas been successfully appliedto analyzesiliconisotope ratios inPM2.5samples collected in Beijing,China.
