IODP36航次1477该站位于南部非洲莫桑比克东侧水深429m的大陆架，在该站位共获得U1477A、U1477B、U1477C 3个深度分别为180.9m、174.1m和119m岩芯，根据船上研究结果，岩芯底部最老年龄在距今约16万年左右，新近获得的有孔虫稳定同位素结果也证明了船上的工作结果的可靠性.
