有机酸是大气气溶胶中重要的水溶性有机物。在过去几十年中，有机酸在气溶胶表面的非均相反应由于其在大气中的重要作用而备受关注。一方面，有机酸可以中和气溶胶的碱性部分(例如CaCO3)，从而改变气溶胶的pH 值；另一方面，有机酸与气溶胶之间的非均相反应可以改变气溶胶的溶解性并增加云滴中离子的稳定性。
