A rapid method with odour inspection using modified electrospray ionization mass spectrometry was shown to be effective in identifying the components of commercial tablets (Paracetamol Tablets and Gatifloxacin Tablets).Through direct spray with a number of protonated solvent molecules, the odour inspection of the tablet analytes was conducted under the condition free from sample preparation or precowcntration.The acquired high quality of the MS and MS2 spectra2quite similar with those from normal liquid ESI-MS, clearly showed dominant molecular ions with less fragmentation.
